URGENT ACTION!
Attention Iranian American Community:
There will be an important foreign assistance bill markup in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee TOMORROW. Senator Sam Brownback will be offering an amendment to create an Iran democracy foundation. The main point of which is to create organization for Iranian Americans and to provide support for their activities to encourage democracy inside Iran.
However, we need SEN. BARBARA BOXER to CO-SPONSOR THIS BILL.
Please call Senator Boxer's office—or fax away—in support of Brownback’s amendment on Iran for tomorrow’s markup. That’s all you have to say.

URGENT ACTION-- AMIR ABBAS FAKHRAVAR, KNOWN AS SYAVASH
Amir Abbas Fakhravar is a 27 year old medical student, writer and political activist. He was summarily arrested in Tehran on March 18, 2003 upon appearing before the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court at a hearing for his appeal against the charge of "Offending the Rahbar." He was then taken to Ghasr prison, where non-political prisoners, including sex offenders and murderers are kept. While being transported to Ghasr, he was subjected to severe beatings in the head, the broken knee, and the abdomenal area.
Expressing his fear for Amir's safety, his father said that, "Ghasr is not a political prison. They are keeping my son with murderers and rapists. I am afraid that the authorities will order the other prisoners to hurt Amir."
